An old rumor that United States First Lady Melania Trump is using a body double to accompany U.S. President Donald Trump was reignited this month. The POTUS was quick to dismiss the speculations insisting that the photo where the rumors have started was “photoshopped.”
The so-called “Fake Melania” theory started gaining attention on social media following the President and the First Lady’s appearance in Alabama to pay respects to tornado victims. Many netizens were quick to comment suggesting that it was not the real Melania who is in the photo with the POTUS. However, it is also important to note that this remains to be a mere theory with no hard evidence to back it up.
The “Fake Melania” theory might have gotten enough attention to oblige the President to tweet about it. “The Fake News photoshopped pictures of Melania, then propelled conspiracy theories that it’s actually not her by my side in Alabama and other places. They are only getting more deranged with time,” he wrote. However, it is not clear which photos he is referring to as edited.
This is not the first time that social media users raised questions on whether it is the real Melania Trump that they are seeing in photos and videos with the President. Back in 2017, it was rumored that the First Lady got a look-alike to appear beside Donald Trump while talking to the press at a facility for the Secret Service.
Hosts of ABC’s “The View” also commented on this theory and got a response from Melania’s representative. “I’ve always found it sad that a group of women spend so much time attacking another woman, whose only goal is to help children,” Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.
Melania Trump and her “Be Best” anti-cyberbullying campaign were also mentioned on the same talk show more recently after the President hit the late U.S. Senator John McCain. At a press event in the White House, he said, “A lot of people are asking me, because they love me, about a man named John McCain. I’ve never liked him much … probably never will.” “The View’s” Sunny Hostin then called on the First Lady to make “the Trump family stop this.”
