A total of 43 of our nation’s most influential Catholic institutions have filed a dozen separate federal lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the Obama administration’s contraceptive mandate, including the University of Notre Dame, the Archdiocese of New York and The Catholic University of America. The suits claim that their “fundamental rights hang in the balance” — and they are right… except that it is the fundamental rights of ALL Americans that hang in the balance…

Shakil Afridi was sentenced to 33 years in prison on Wednesday in Pakistan for conspiring against the state. Now you may be wondering who Shakil Afridi is and what’s the significance of his conviction in a Pakistani court? Afridi was one of the many who helped the United States track down Usama bin Laden behind the scenes. The NAACP’s board voted in Miami to back an organization resolution to support gay marriage. The NAACP endorsed same-sex marriage as a civil right. The emergency move was required in light of the fact that only 27 percent of fourth graders passed the test under the original standards!
